The Carnia

 On the eastern border of Friuli and near the Natural Park of the Friuli Dolomites, the Carnia is an area slightly over 1000 km², a small area that has many natural points of interest: 2000 species of vegetation, 1000 types of mushrooms and 50 types of orchids.

A unique natural wealth which is preserved thanks to the active efforts by local environmental organizations. Nature, with its rocky peaks, forests and lakes, should be discovered gradually, and it will delight tourists with its unspoiled landscapes.

Rich in natural landscapes, history and art, events and traditions, Carnia offers many leisure-time activities during the summer (nature walks, trekking, canyoning, horseback riding, mountain biking), as well as in winter (cross country skiing, downhill skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing).

Its strategic position in the north of Friuli Venezia Giulia makes it an ideal starting point for excursions and trips into Friuli, but also into neighbouring Austria or Slovenia or in Cadore. For those who wish to visit magnificent Venice, it is reachable within a couple of hours by car.
