Wine shop & Bar

Would you like to sample the flavour of fine wines from Friuli or enjoy the sunshine and fresh air on the summer terrace? Here they are at your service
After returning from a beautiful day spent strolling through our woods, riding a bike along the nearby Alpe Adria cycle-path or getting to know the historical and artistic beauty of our region, there is nothing more relaxing than returning to the hotel to dine and relax in the fresh, evening air.
And why not add a glass of wine to this moment of relaxation, comfortably served at your table?
The Enoteca and bar of our hotel have a cosy outdoor terrace, which is right in front of the garden and ideal for relaxing, chatting and dining in the summer season, when the milder temperature permits, or simply to enjoy a quiet moment during the day, perhaps taking some sun while reading a book. Inside there is a quiet area dedicated to wine-tasting, where you can linger over getting to know the wines on our list, whetting your appetite with a taste of local products.
Friuli Venezia Giulia is a region with a long-standing wine tradition, particularly in the production of white wines. Since ancient times, in fact, our region has been the focus for both the production and trade of wine, lying on one of the main routes taken by merchants who were travelling eastward.
The particular structure of the soil and climatic characteristics have always been favourable to the growth of numerous prestigious vines; the art of viticulture has been kept alive over the centuries, so much so that today Friuli boasts over 25 varieties of indigenous vines, which are not cultivated in any other region of the world.
Our production of fine wines is truly rich and includes wines such as Picolit, Collio, Malvasia and Friulano (called Tocai until a few years ago) among the whites, and Refosco and Terrano between the reds. The Friulian wines, both white and red, have an elegant and balanced taste in common; the ability of the white wines of this region to sustain even several years of ageing, is quite notable.
The assortment of wines in our Enoteca is broad and includes a selection of labels representing the best from every region.
To further enrich your stay at the Hotel Ristorante Carnia, we recommend you experience our "gastronomic journey", letting our staff suggest the best combinations of wine and local specialties of meats and cheeses.
These include the famous Sauris prosciutto ham, produced in the municipality of the same name, recognizable for its delicate aroma and sweet, slightly smoky taste, the prosciutto San Daniele and the many cheeses from Carnia such as the fresh or slightly matured Montasio, the Formaggio Salato and the famous "Formadi Frant".
Our bar opens daily at 7 am and does not close until midnight.
